In the Midst of Culture

So much has changed in the past few years. Following Christ is not as “easy” or commonplace as it was a couple of short years ago. Those who follow Christ and the teaching found in the Word think much differently than our culture. When we disagree with what culture says, we are often called hateful or judgmental. It is sad that disagreeing with culture and not celebrating sin is classified as being judgmental, but it is reassuring to know the Bible promises us this kind of trouble.

Our Lord, Jesus, was hated by the world, so of course it makes sense that His followers would be hated, as well (John 15:18). God never leaves us on our own; He clearly reveals to us in His Word that we are not to continue in our sin (Romans 6:1-2), but to love Him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Deuteronomy 6:5). Galatians 1:10 later talks about how we are to please God, not man. In His Word, He specifically tells us how we are to please Him: by keeping His commandments (1 John 5:3), which are found in His Word that is living and active (Hebrews 4:12).

Loving others is huge, and is our second greatest commandment. We must not forget that in order to love others as our Father intends, we must, first and foremost, love HIM. And as He teaches us, we must read His Truth and live by it, in order to truly love Him and others!

Always & Forever,
