“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” -Ephesians 4:2-3
Marriage is a crazy, wonderful gift from God. In these two months of marriage, I have learned more about loving fully and unconditionally than ever in my life. Never before have I had a friendship with another person quite like this; one in which you know every strength and weakness, can disagree and be completely honest about it, forgive unceasingly, share the same home, share all of your fears and hopes, and build your life and move toward Christ together. I could not be more inspired by Duncan; he sets the most incredible example for me and everyone around him. He has challenged me to pray for joy and take every opportunity to get to know people and reveal to them a glimpse of Christ’s love. It is so easy for me to get caught up in myself and my own little realm of the world, but I have been moved to pray for people and to be able to see them as our Heavenly Father and Creator sees them. This is especially true with Duncan; when I step back and take the time to see him as Christ sees him, I see the most perfect, breathtaking man. That does not mean that we don’t have silly arguments or don’t disagree on a multitude of topics, because we do. But because of God’s grace, we are still able to be vulnerable, to reconcile, and to be one as Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Tillack. Marriage is growing each day with your best friend, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. These past couple months have been full of quality time, learning together, settling into our home, raising our puppy (Kya), celebrating our birthdays, camping trips, and other little life adventures. God always loves perfectly, shows unending mercy, and is always faithful, but we must choose to seek Him and be transformed to be more like Him in all areas. Marriage is an incredible platform for this, and there is nothing else in this world like it. To God be all the glory!
“Together is the best place to be.”
